Wisdom teeth are normally the final adult teeth to arrive. Sometimes, as your wisdom teeth come through, they can cause you problems especially if they are impacted from a lack of space, or teeth being in the way.
For most people, impacted wisdom teeth cause no problems at all, but some people can suffer problems such as inflammation of the surrounding gum, a higher risk of tooth decay, gum disease in other teeth, and jaw pain.
If necessary, these teeth may require removal and more often than not, a surgical approach is required. If you are concerned about your wisdom teeth then a full mouth radiograph, known as an OPG can tell us if you have them and show us where they are placed. We can then decide what course of action is required, if any.
